Merry-Go-Round Rock Elopement in Sedona, Arizona
Lana + Alex’s Merry-Go-Round Rock Elopement
I am SO excited to share these photos from Lana and Alex’s elopement in Sedona, Arizona! These two love traveling and visiting new places together so getting married somewhere they’ve never been before seemed like the perfect idea. Originally, their plan was to elope in Joshua Tree but just a few weeks before their date they made the decision to switch locations to Sedona. Even though it wasn’t the first choice for their elopement, they fully embraced the idea once their plans changed and I honestly don’t think it could have turned out more perfectly!
We talked about a few different locations in Sedona for their ceremony and ultimately they decided on Merry-Go-Round Rock - a viewpoint overlooking the city and some of it’s most well-known rock formations, like Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock, and Courthouse Butte to name just a few. To get to this location you either have to drive up a bumpy road accessible by 4x4 vehicle only, or hike the 6.4 mile round trip trail to the top. Lana and Alex opted to rent a Jeep and do the drive, which was SO fun.
On the day of their elopement, I met up with them at their resort where they got ready together. Since it was just the two of them, they opted to do this instead of doing a first look so that they wouldn’t have to spend the morning alone. Alex helped Lana with her dress and even put her jewelry and boots on for her. Once they were ready to go, we all hopped into the Jeep they rented and Alex drove us up the bumpy road to Merry-Go-Round Rock! It was fun getting to just chat and get to know them better during the 45 -60 min. ride.
When you get to the end of the dirt road, there’s a short hike to get to the Merry-Go-Round Rock viewpoint, so after meeting up with their officiant and florist Alyssa, (who actually hiked the trail instead of driving!) we all made our way to the spot they picked out for their ceremony. Then they got married! In front of one of the most epic views in Sedona. After signing their marriage license and taking a little snack break, we took the rest of their couples photos as the sun set. It was such a beautiful day and these cool clouds were spotted across the sky, creating the prettiest colors as the sun dipped in and out from behind them.
Experiences like this make me so thankful for my job and getting to work with couples who trust me and truly value what I do! Thank you, Lana and Alex for inviting me to capture such a special day!!
